We finally stayed at "Nikko Style Niseko HANAZONO," which opened in the winter of 2024!

I opted for a Club Lounge room for this stay.

Probably because of the holiday, I noticed more Japanese people around than usual, compared to foreign tourists.

There were so many kid-friendly features, so I’ll be sharing those along with the rest of my review!

Niseko in summer is also packed with events. Around the hotel, you can find everything from ziplining and canoeing to padel courts.

We had a blast at 'Mountain Lights,' a limited-time summer attraction. Walking through (or viewing from above!) the sea of lights was such an immersive and magical experience.

Nikko Style Niseko HANAZONO

Nikko Style Niseko Hanazono is located about a two-hour drive from both Sapporo and New Chitose Airport.

Since it's located at the foot of the ski resort, it's easy to pop back into the hotel anytime. With the mountain scenery right in front of us, we really felt immersed in nature!

The Hanazono area is still being developed, and I’m excited to see how it continues to grow in the future.

Hotel Map

The hotel has eight floors, but you'll mainly be using the first and second floors.

Therefore, I'll be introducing the hotel floor by floor in this blog post.

1F

Reception

The reception features a vibrant yellow display reminiscent of sunflowers—the symbol of summer. The counter is adorned with blue decorations, capturing the essence of the summer sky and the deep azure sea.

When I arrived just before the 3:00 PM check-in time, the place was empty, but about 30 minutes later, it looked like this! As expected of a holiday weekend. I highly recommend arriving a little early!

Communal Lobby

This is an open space designed not only for hotel guests but also as a welcoming spot for the local community.

Library

The library area, themed after Hokkaido’s grand nature transitioning from autumn to winter, was a cozy space filled with the warmth of wood.

CAFE&BAR

Opening Hours11:30-22:00(Food L.O 20:30/Drink L.O 21:45)

Our Cafe & Bar offers a wide variety of drinks crafted with Hokkaido’s pristine, delicious water. You can enjoy a selection of locally distilled gins and whiskies, regional wines, and our signature original cocktails.

DJ Booth

There is a DJ booth located right near the lobby. I heard that the art installation there actually syncs its lights with the music!

Ski Lockers

Opening Hours24hour

The hotel offers spacious, guest-exclusive lockers for storing skis and snowboards, making access to the slopes a breeze.

Lunch11:30-14:30(L.O.14:00)

Overlooking the grand beauty of nature, the restaurant serves a lavish Japanese-Western breakfast buffet featuring fresh Hokkaido ingredients, as well as lunch and dinner. We enjoyed our breakfast right here!

The large windows made the space feel so open and airy! I can only imagine how beautiful the snow-covered landscape must look in the winter.

In the center, there is a dedicated area for fresh fruit and drinks.

The rice is served by a robot! The kids were absolutely thrilled to watch it in action.

You can order from the Live Egg Station by scanning the QR code at your table, and the staff will bring it right to you. You can choose how you want your eggs cooked and pick from plenty of toppings—you can even go for 'the works' with everything on it!

This is a sea urchin sauce.

If it’s not too busy, they’ll seat families with children at these semi-circular booth tables. It made our meal so much more comfortable!

My daughter looks very pleased with herself! (lol)

Check in

When we went to check in at the first-floor reception, we were told that since our room includes club lounge access, we could check in on the second floor instead!

Wow, it’s so spacious!!

We sat down at our favorite table to complete the check-in process. Since most of the staff are international, we had a few moments where things got lost in translation, but they were so dedicated and tried their very best to explain everything to us

Since we arrived a bit before check-in, we had the place almost to ourselves. Even after we finished the paperwork, we stayed for a while to just relax and soak in the atmosphere of the lounge.

Sweets and fresh fruit.

Hot drink

The cold drinks selection. This ginger ale was absolutely amazing...!!

Stuffing my face with a delicious manjū! (lol)

Cocktail Hour.

Since it was a holiday, the Cocktail Hour was split into two separate sessions.

The atmosphere at night is just as wonderful.

A sofa seat happened to open up, so we decided to move here.

They have a great selection of alcoholic drinks as well.

They offer 2 or 3 kinds of savory dishes.

When a dish ran out, they would bring out a different kind, so the selection kept changing.

They also had salads and sweets available.

The lounge had a lovely, dimmed 'adult' atmosphere, yet there were plenty of families with children, too!

The curry was delicious, but it had quite a kick to it, so it might be a bit too spicy for children.

Since the number of dishes is limited, it might be a good idea to book a restaurant or bring your own dinner to eat in your room.

Using the pickup service from the restaurant on the first floor is also a great option! ^^

They also have a fitness gym.

Opening Hours24hours

The sustainable gym is equipped with the German fitness brand 'WaterRower.' The woody design was so cute and stylish!!

Natural hot spring (Onsen)

Opening Hours6:00-11:00 / 15:00-23:00

A natural hot spring bath exclusively for guests, featuring both a sauna and an outdoor bath.

Known as the 'Water of Beauty,' the spring is a sodium chloride and bicarbonate hot spring (hypotonic, mildly alkaline). It’s gentle on the skin, relieves muscle tension, and is effective for poor circulation, digestive health, fatigue recovery, and overall wellness.

STYLE HEALING

After warming up in the hot spring and sauna, you can unwind at the 'style Healing' lounge and soak in the beautiful views from the window.

They even have a water dispenser!! Perfect for rehydrating after the sauna.

Stretching out my (admittedly short) legs on the ottoman and just chilling out. (lol)

Coin laundry

Having a coin-operated laundry is such a lifesaver, especially for families with kids or longer stays. You can monitor the status of the laundry and public baths on the room TV. It's so convenient because you don't have to go all the way there to check!

Guest rooms are located on floors 3 through 8.

We stayed in room 709.

Our home for the night was room 709, a Superior King Room. You can really tell it's a new opening—the room is spotless and packed with the latest tech and amenities!!

The room keys are so cute, too! ♡

Superior Club King room

Bed

A massive King bed! It’s perfect for a family of three to stretch out and get a great night's sleep.

The bathroom offers a stunning view, giving you that open-air bath vibe in the privacy of your own room. It’s so relaxing!

My daughter absolutely loves the bed, too!

Our room faced the mountains, so we could see the beautiful 'Mountain Lights' and even watch fireworks exploding right in front of our eyes!

Waking up to a mountain view was amazing, but seeing multiple rainbows throughout the morning was truly magical!

TV

The TV has internet access, so we could watch YouTube! It was a lifesaver for keeping the little one entertained.

The TV shows exactly how busy the restaurant and public baths are, so you never have to worry about showing up to a crowded space. Such a smart system!

I'm so grateful that the TV is YouTube-ready. It's the perfect way to keep the family entertained in the room.

Plumbing fixtures

I loved the compact and airy design of the bathroom. Since there's a curtain, you can choose between enjoying the view while bathing or having a private space!

Natural hot spring (Onsen)

Having natural hot spring water right in our own room was such a dream. We could enjoy the 'Bihada-no-yu' in complete privacy anytime we wanted!

My husband and daughter headed to the large public bath, while I stayed behind to enjoy the natural hot spring in our room all to myself! (lol)

Beverage station

They provide one complimentary bottle of water per person, plus a great selection of coffee and tea. It was so nice to have everything we needed for a tea break in the room!

The refrigerator is a drawer-type, which is so sleek and easy to use. It blends perfectly into the room’s modern design!

Hair dryer

They provide ReFa dryers, which is a huge plus! It shows how much the hotel cares about their guests' beauty and comfort. My hair felt amazing!

Slippers

The slippers were the thick, fluffy kind! They felt so plush and comfortable—total bliss for my feet after a long day.

Let’s go and explore the neighborhood!

Unfortunately, the rain kept us indoors, but the neighborhood looked so inviting for a walk. I’d love to come back and explore it on a sunny day!

It was so thoughtful of the hotel to provide a walking map. It’s such a helpful guide for guests who want to explore the local area!

The hotel is located in such a peaceful setting with a river and plenty of greenery. It’s the perfect environment for a relaxing morning walk.

They even offer kick bike rentals on the first floor! It’s such a fantastic service for families with energy-filled kids.

Even though it was raining, the fireworks were spectacular. Watching the display from our window meant we didn't have to worry about the weather. Such a luxurious way to enjoy the night!

The 'HANAZONO Summer Fireworks' are held every Saturday from July through the second week of October. It's amazing that you have so many chances to catch this spectacular show!

Watching the 5-minute fireworks display from the comfort of our room was spectacular. The scale was so impressive that it felt like we had the best seats in the house!

The 'Fire Dance' performance was canceled due to the rain, but thankfully, they still went ahead with the fireworks! It was such a relief and a joy to watch them from our room.

The fireworks were so incredible that I can only imagine how much more powerful they would have been if we’d watched them outside! Even from behind the window, the impact was absolutely amazing.

Mountain Lights

"Mountain Lights' is a large-scale light art installation held at Niseko HANAZONO Resort during the summer season. It’s an incredible fusion of modern art and Niseko’s vast nature.

You can admire the four exhibits, including the 1.3km light art installation, from above by taking a gondola ride. You can also hop off midway to take a leisurely stroll along the path and see the artwork up close.

Dressed in warm layers and raincoats, we headed out to see Mountain Lights! Rain or shine, we weren't going to miss this magical experience!

Even though it was September, I brought a down jacket just in case. The staff laughed and told me, 'Wow, you're perfectly prepared!' I was so glad I had it because it was freezing!

We headed to the entrance gate via Resort Center 308, which is just a short walk from the hotel. We simply scanned our QR code tickets and were ready to go!

After a short walk, we arrived at the gondola station! Since it was raining, there were only a handful of people around. It felt almost like we had the whole place to ourselves!

The gondola was so large and spotless! It felt brand new and much more spacious than I expected.

We had a 10-person gondola all to ourselves—what a luxury! With the comfy seats and private space, we were like, 'Let’s go!' Ready to enjoy the lights from above.

Since it was about 5:30 p.m., the sun was just starting to set, and there was still a bit of daylight left. It was interesting to see the lights beginning to glow against the fading sky.

Although there’s a walking trail, the 30-minute trek in the rain seemed a bit much with the family. We chose to admire the light art from the comfort of our gondola instead. No regrets—the view from above was stunning!

By the time we went around for a second loop, it had gotten much darker, which made the lights look even more vibrant and beautiful! The contrast against the black night was stunning.

My photography skills didn't quite capture the magic, so you'll have to visit their website for the professional shots! Trust me, it's worth seeing the real thing. (haha)

Summary

Our daughter loved the room at Nikko Style Niseko so much that she didn't even want to go outside! It’s truly a kid-friendly hotel where even children can feel perfectly at home and comfortable.

This hotel is a destination in itself. It's perfect for a staycation because you can fully enjoy your time without ever leaving. But once you step outside, you're greeted by vast, beautiful nature.

Niseko in summer is highly recommended because there are so many events to enjoy! Plus, hotel rates are much more affordable compared to the peak winter season. It’s the perfect time to experience luxury for a great price. ^^
