"Can a 4-year-old really enjoy KidZania?"

"You might be thinking, 'I’d love to take my child to KidZania, but since they're only 4, will they get cranky and cry being out that late?'"

For parents with those same worries, I highly recommend the '3-Hour Pass' that starts from 4:00 PM.

Today, I’m sharing a real-life report on how my 4-year-old daughter and I conquered 3 activities in just 2 hours! I’ll show you how we made the most of her first-ever KidZania visit with maximum fun and zero stress.

We actually entered with a 3-hour pack, but she was so satisfied after 2 hours that we decided to head home early! (lol)

Where is KidZania located in Japan?

Thinking of visiting KidZania? First things first—let’s check the locations! Currently, there are three KidZania facilities in Japan.

  1. KidZania Tokyo (Located in Urban Dock LaLaport Toyosu, Koto-ku) ←This is the one we visited!
  2. KidZania Koshien (Nishinomiya City, Hyogo)
  3. KidZania Fukuoka (Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City)

Each location has its own exclusive pavilions, but today I’ll be sharing our experience at KidZania Tokyo. It would be so much fun to visit all three locations someday!!!

Booking Online is a Must!

The basic rule for visiting KidZania is to book your tickets online in advance.

  •  Booking Window: Reservations open at 10:00 AM on the 1st of every month for dates up to 3 months in advance.
  •  Last-Minute Bookings: If slots are available, you can purchase tickets online until 6:00 PM on the day of your visit.
  •  Payment Method: For online bookings, credit card payment is required.

The Key to Early Entry: Pre-Check-in is the Secret!

It’s all about the strategy: getting in as early as possible to secure your first activity is crucial for a successful 3-hour visit.

  1. Head to LaLaport Toyosu Early: Even for a 4:00 PM entry, check-in starts at 10:15 AM at the airport counter on the 3rd floor. (Only one representative needs to be there!)
  2. Get Your Entry Order Card: Once you finish check-in, you’ll receive a card with your meeting time and location printed on it.
  3. Assembly: Head back to the meeting spot at your designated time! You’ll be able to enter the park preferentially based on your card number. (Remember, your whole group must be together for entry!)

I highly recommend arriving early on the day to handle your pre-check-in. It's the ultimate secret to getting ahead of the crowd!

By securing an early check-in, you'll skip the opening crowd and breeze right through to the activities you've been eyeing. It’s the best way to start your adventure!

Move Freely with the Luggage Storage Service!

Traveling with kids always means extra luggage, but remember—KidZania is a city designed for children. Some pathways are narrow, so moving around with large bags can be a bit tricky.

Even if you’re on a 'whirlwind trip' from afar, storing your large bags lets you move freely. You can fully commit to being a photographer for your little ones!

・Coin lockers and a designated stroller parking area are conveniently located near the entrance.

・Don't worry about oversized bags! The staff can look after any luggage that doesn't fit in a locker for a fee of 500 yen each during check-in.

We actually headed straight to KidZania from Haneda Airport with our suitcases! Checking our luggage first was a game-changer—it let us check in early and explore LaLaport completely hands-free. It was the best!"

The Quick Schedule

12:00 PM: Early Check-in

Dropped off luggage and got a numbered entry ticket.

The check-in counter looked exactly like an airport terminal! It really got us excited and made us feel like we were boarding a flight to a different world.

3:20 PM: Meet up at KidZania

We lined up according to the number on the Entry Order Card we got at check-in. I was honestly shocked by the length of the line—as expected of Tokyo! The crowd was on another level!

3:40 PM: Entry starts. Time to head straight to our first job!"

As soon as we walked in, Urbano and Vita were there to welcome us!

Stepping into the streets of KidZania, the incredibly realistic atmosphere gets both kids and adults buzzing with excitement!

For a short 3-hour visit, the secret to success is picking one 'must-do' activity and then looking for slots at less crowded spots!

Even though it was just before 4:00 PM, we rushed straight to our top-priority pavilion to secure a reservation right after entering!

4:00 PM: Activity ① Soft Serve Ice Cream Shop

Time: 16:00 – 16:15 (15 mins)

The very first place we headed after entering was the Soft Serve Ice Cream Shop—a huge hit with the girls!

Even for a 4-year-old, the process of swirling the ice cream and adding toppings is easy to enjoy. That special feeling of 'I made it myself!' had her excitement levels at MAX right from the start!

Activities officially kick off at 4:00 PM, signaled by the musical chime from the SEIKO clock tower. It's the perfect cue for the city to come to life!

At KidZania, it’s the children who step up to the counter! Parents stay behind the line and cheer them on silently as they take their first steps toward independence.

I honestly expected her to say, 'Come with me!' but instead, she just marched right up on her own (lol). It was such a touching moment that really showed how much she’s grown.

We were the second ones in line, but a long queue started forming right behind us! I’m so glad we headed there first.

It really pays to decide on your first stop ahead of time! Having a plan made our start so much smoother.

Wearing her little hat and apron, she looked absolutely proud and happy. It was the cutest thing! ^^

She looked so incredibly happy! (lol)

Once everyone was dressed in their uniforms, the staff gave us an overview of how the activity would flow.

The kids took turns washing their hands. There was a staff member assisting them the entire time, so I felt completely at ease.

Now it’s time for each child to take their turn. First, she carefully picked up a cone.

She reached up as high as she could to pull the lever. First up: the classic vanilla soft serve!

She seemed to have picked strawberry and a vanilla-strawberry mix!

She did it! She looked so happy to have made her favorite soft-serve ice cream all by herself!!

Final step: Toppings! She sprinkled on some colorful chocolate to add the finishing touch—and it's complete!

Since there was a little wait while the other kids had their turn, she turned to me and asked, 'Mommy, do you want some too?' She’s so free-spirited! (lol)

Welcome back! You did such a great job!

She took off her apron and hat, but we kept the black hairnet on since she'll need it for other pavilions. Honestly, even just the hairnet look is pretty adorable! (lol)

We found a seat nearby, and she finally got to taste the soft-serve she made all by herself. It must have tasted extra special!

She was so sweet and offered some to us, saying, 'Here you go, Mommy and Daddy!' ^^

The wait times and activity duration were relatively short, and the steps were simple enough for a 4-year-old to follow. It was such a smooth and stress-free experience!

4:35PM : ② Sausage Maker (Schau Essen)

Time: 16:35 – 17:05 (30 mins)

She challenged herself as a 'Sausage Maker,' using authentic machinery to stuff the meat into the casings.

I wondered if it might be a bit difficult for her, but the staff provided such kind support that she did just fine. Watching her work the lever so earnestly, she looked like a real member of the shop! She also seemed to love the taste of the freshly made sausages!

No time wasted! We managed to check in for the sausage making right after the soft-serve activity. It felt so good to move from one job to the next so smoothly.

She put on her uniform for the next job! While she was changing, people around her started saying 'How cute!', and she got all shy and bashful. (lol)

Alright, time to get to work! Good luck, little pro!

We kept a close eye on her through the window, cheering her on from the outside.

Even though she was the youngest among the boys, they looked after her so well. Seeing their kindness made us feel so relieved. ^^

First, everyone washed their hands together.

She couldn't stop looking our way and babbling to us through the glass. (lol)

The staff also gave the parents an overview of how the activity would proceed.

  1. Adding salt and spices to the ground meat and mixing it thoroughly.
  2. Stuffing the meat into the sheep casings.
  3. Twisting the sausages into links.

Working in pairs for this job! Here she is adding the spices and kneading the meat together with her partner.

Great teamwork! She was in charge of the spices, while the older boy took over the heavy work of kneading the meat.

Since they were handling raw meat, the staff kept a very close eye on the younger children to make sure they didn't accidentally try to eat it. It was very reassuring.

After kneading the meat thoroughly, it was time to load it into the machine.

They took turns with the roles: one person turned the lever while the other held the sausage as it came out.

She played the supporting role, carefully holding and guiding the sausage as it came out of the machine.

For the final touch, she twisted the sausage into links to finish the job!

We all watched together as the sausages were placed in the oven. And just like that, they were finished!

Mission accomplished! She’s hanging up her uniform and packing her things.

At the end of the shift, each child gets two sausages to take home!

Apparently, the sausages the kids receive aren't the ones they just made, but a pre-prepared batch for safety and quality.

She probably thinks these are the exact same sausages she just worked so hard to make!

Her beaming smile as she ran back to us, so proud of her hard work, is a memory I’ll cherish forever. ^^

She handed us the sausages, saying, 'Daddy, Mommy, these are for you!' with a big smile.

She received her first 'salary' and was so proud of herself for working so hard!

Making her favorite sausages from scratch was a dream come true! Between kneading the meat and rotating the crank, the whole experience was packed with excitement.

5:35 PM: Activity ③ Salad Chef! She tried her hand at making fresh spring rolls.

Time: 17:35 – 18:00 (30 mins)

The finale was the Salad Chef experience! She used vibrant, colorful veggies to create beautiful fresh spring rolls.

Even for a child who usually stays away from vegetables, a salad they made themselves is something special. She looked so proud of her creation!

She’s getting used to putting on the uniforms! By the third job, she looked like a natural getting ready for work.

She answered the staff's questions so confidently during the allergy check. It was great to see her participating so actively!

I appreciated how the staff kept the parents informed about what the kids would be doing inside. It made the experience much more reassuring.

With a bright 'Off I go!', she waved goodbye and headed straight into the kitchen with a big smile.

She actually told us, 'Mommy, Daddy, you can go away now!' (lol). She was so ready to be independent!

We waved to each other through the glass. Even though we couldn't hear her voice, her bright smile told us exactly how much fun she was having!

They all took turns washing their hands carefully. It was so sweet to see the kids lined up, getting ready to be clean little chefs!

Before they started cooking, there was a simple explanation for the kids about the vegetables and what a fresh spring roll is.

She dipped the rice paper into the water and watched it magically turn soft right before her eyes!

She started placing the colorful vegetables one by one onto the paper. It looked like she was creating a piece of art!

She’s having the time of her life! Look at that big grin—she’s completely forgotten that she usually dislikes these veggies. ^^

She’s listening to the instructions on how to roll them up. Look at that serious face! She’s fully focused on getting it just right.

I was a little worried because there were so many vegetables to pack in, but the staff provided excellent support to make sure she succeeded!

The staff provided such wonderful support! They guided her through the tricky parts, so she could finish her spring roll all by herself.

Mission accomplished! She finished making two beautiful fresh spring rolls all by herself. (And the best part? She gets to take them home!)

Finally, it was tasting time! The staff served bite-sized pieces on spoons, and she couldn't wait to try her own creation.

She used to refuse spring rolls at home, but look at her now! Giving a proud thumbs-up to her own creation. There’s definitely a special magic in handmade food! ^^

Our little chef is back in her own clothes! She looked so proud of herself as she returned to us, still beaming from her big success.

She was so excited, shouting 'I got paid!' with a huge smile. She looked so proud holding her hard-earned KidZos!

We even received the recipe! Now we can recreate those delicious spring rolls together at home anytime we want.

6:10 PM : Time to say goodbye to KidZania

She’s finished three jobs and looks absolutely satisfied! You can see the sense of accomplishment in her eyes—she’s had such a productive day.

She knocked out three jobs in just two hours!

We were on a 3-hour plan, but after finishing her third job in just two hours, she turned to me and whispered something that said it all...

I’m satisfied! That was so much fun! Now, I’m ready to go home (to the hotel)!

Believe it or not, we ended up leaving an hour early! (lol) She was so satisfied with her three jobs that she decided two hours were more than enough. Talk about a clean break!

As parents, we couldn't help thinking, 'Just one more job since we have time...' But for a 4-year-old, working, cooking, and eating her own creation was a massive adventure. Her heart and stomach were completely full!

We didn't push her to stay. Instead, we left the park while she was still wearing that sparkling smile. It was the perfect ending to her big adventure.

Leaving while she still wants more ensures she’ll look forward to the next time even more. It’s better to end on a high note and keep the magic alive.

What a legendary first day at KidZania! ^^ She proved that age is just a number when it comes to passion and focus. We couldn't be prouder of our little chef's decisive debut. Can't wait for her next mission!

We felt so at ease letting her participate in the food pavilions.

  • They were very thorough with allergy checks.
  • They even checked for nail polish and bandages on the children's hands.
  • They were so thoughtful with the hand sanitizing process. The staff even asked for permission before applying alcohol, making sure it was okay for her skin.

I loved how they respected her as an individual while ensuring safety by confirming with us. It was so reassuring to know they wouldn't proceed without a clear answer from a parent when needed.

3 Major Perks of the "3-Hour Pass" for a 4-Year-Old:

1. Victory at its Peak

Her energy lasted until the very end. While morning sessions often clash with nap times, the 3-hour evening slot kept her sharp and focused the whole time.

It’s easy to feel a sense of accomplishment

Completing three jobs provided the perfect volume of success for a 4-year-old—enough to feel proud without feeling overwhelmed."

The evening atmosphere adds a special touch.

Stepping out to see the real night city after working in the 'permanent night' of KidZania made her feel like she’d truly finished a big day of work.

If it's your child's birthday month, make sure to get a 'Birthday Card'!

If you visit during your birthday month, there are even more exciting perks and benefits waiting for you!

We were lucky to visit during her birthday month. The special treats and warm wishes from the staff added an extra layer of joy to her first KidZania experience.

It’s a double treat for moms! Not only was she happy to participate, but since birthday kids don't have to pay KidZos, it was also very kind to our budget. A win-win for everyone!

1. Get a Birthday Card and special stickers!

If you tell them it's your child's birthday month at check-in, they'll give you these items.

Wearing the sticker lets staff all over the city know, and they'll shower your child with 'Happy Birthday' wishes. My daughter was blushing but clearly so happy!

2. Activities that cost KidZos become 'Free'!

While some jobs pay you, others usually require payment.

With the Birthday Card, all paid experiences are free! (For example, she enjoyed the Ice Cream Shop without spending a single KidZo ♪)

3. Don't miss the secret celebration!

If you hear the birthday song, head over to the central plaza! You might just get a special surprise.

Essential Packing List for First-Timers

  • Reusable bag : An eco-bag is a must-have for carrying home all the souvenirs and items they create during their jobs."
  • Water bottle : A water bottle is essential for quick hydration between jobs to keep their energy levels up!
  • Spare camera battery : Don't forget a spare camera battery! Your child will look so adorable in their uniforms that you won't be able to stop taking photos!

I wasn't sure if she was ready for KidZania yet, but seeing her so focused and hardworking at four years old showed me a whole new side of her.

With the 3-hour session, we could create meaningful memories without burning out. It’s the best way to enjoy KidZania without overextending ourselves!

Thoughts on Our First KidZania Experience

She had been awake since 5:30 AM and didn't take a nap at all. Between the flight and running around Lalaport, her adrenaline was so high that she showed no signs of sleepiness!

We completely missed the nap window, so we headed straight to KidZania anyway. It was now or never!

I was worried she might be too cranky to do any jobs, but she surprised me! She had a blast and successfully completed three different activities.

I could think 'what if' about the nap, but for her first time, this was perfect. Completing three jobs in her condition was a huge win, and we’re both so happy with how it went!!

She recently had a 'pretend shop' activity at kindergarten, so she was absolutely beaming when she received real KidZos for her hard work. It's a memory I’ll never forget!

Since she can't read yet, we acted as her navigators, choosing the jobs and heading to the pavilions to make reservations for her.

It’s wonderful how you can choose pavilions that match your child's age and development. It makes the experience fun and stress-free for everyone!"

Watching her have so much fun made me want to join in, too! (laughs)
